Poor children in remote island given gifts for Mid-Autumn Festival

(VOVWORLD) - 1,000 children of Ly Son island district was treated to a program called "Frontier Autumn Moon" held on Wednesday evening in Ly Son island district, Quang Ngai province.

Organized by Military Broadcasting Center and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, the program was a special musical party and circus acts, magic tricks, lion dances, star lantern parades, and feasts in praise of the homeland, youth, and Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on September 17. Organizers delivered 1,000 gifts to local students including candies, milk, backpacks, school supplies, and toys. 

The Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, Hung Vuong University, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and many businesses also awarded scholarships, contribute to study promotion funds, and donate national flags and 20 bicycles to disadvantaged students.

Pham Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ly Son island district, said: “This program is of humane significance as it shows the care for children in remote, border areas, and islands, helping them have a better learning spirit. We thank the program’s organizers and hope to have many more activities in other places, so that children can have a good time of their childhood.”

On this occasion, the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association visited and presented gifts to the People's Committee of Ly Son district, two households in difficult circumstances and officers and soldiers of Coast Guard Station 2 on duty on Ly Son island.
