The amount of plastic waste has decreased sharply and green models have been replicated, creating a foundation for sustainable development and shaping a more responsible and attractive tourism image.

Con Dao has reduced 35-40% of single-use plastic waste at tourist service establishments. More than half of accommodation establishments and restaurants have applied the "no single-use plastic" model. Organic waste has been recycled into fertilizer. Eco-tours, nature experiences and local culture are thriving, attracting tourists who are conscious of environmental protection.

Mr. Ngo Huu Thong of the Institute for Applied Research and Business Innovation, said: “Net zero is a new philosophy to maintain economic development and human survival. People’s awareness must be raised to minimize the impacts of economic and social activities on the environment.”

Con Dao plans to expand the existing models, promote communication and education, encourage businesses to research and apply new technologies in waste management, renewable energy and smart tourism.
