Mr. Quang urged local authorities to pay close attention to the provincial planning approved by the Prime Minister, which orients Quang Tri’s development to the East, focuses on the marine economy coupled with protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of Vietnam. Con Co special zone needs to tap the island's tourism potential to the fullest, diversify patterns and products associated with protecting the ecological environment, he said.

Local authorities have stepped up investment promotion to make Con Co a “magnet” to attract sea and island tourism, resort tourism. Con Co island district, which was established in October 2004, has now become Con Co special zone of new Quang Tri province and spans 230 hectares.
