The Ministry of Transport was assigned to do research on mechanisms and policies to mobilize resources to develop the seaport system and connect it with the national transport to contribute to the national socio-economic development.
Pham Hoai Chung, Deputy Director of the Transport Development and Strategy Institute, said: “Investing in a dry port system connecting with the seaport system will make goods clearance more quickly. With the existing seaport system, we will have a synchronous seaport infrastructure system, thereby promoting the custom clearance capacity for a greater volume of goods. Thus, our seaport system will be more competitive in the region and the world.”
The Ministry of Transport will mobilize all its resources and prioritize investment in construction, upgrading and renovating essential infrastructure works to attract more shipping business. The Ministry is also strengthening its application of IT, improving labor productivity, enhancing connectivity and the capacity to exploit port infrastructure for more economic development.
