Performing before 11,000 spectators at Moscow’s Live Arena, Duc Phuc captivated the audiences with his powerful rendition of “Phu Dong Thien Vuong”, composed by Ho Hoai Anh. The song, rich in historical themes and traditional folk elements, showcased his vocal strength and stage presence. His performance, featuring the striking image of the legendary Saint Giong, brought the hall to a standstill before erupting in thunderous applause. Most of the song was performed in Vietnamese, with a few English lines to introduce the theme, a choice praised by the international audience.
The 2025 edition of Intervision brought together 23 artists from 23 countries. Duc Phuc outperformed all competitors, scoring 422 points, 49 points higher than the runner-up. The victory earned him a crystal trophy and a prize of 30 million RUB ( nearly 360,000 USD).
He said after his victory that the award was not only a personal triumph but also a win for Vietnamese music, adding that he felt proud in bringing the song featuring Saint Giong, a symbol of Vietnam’s heroic spirit, to the world stage, hoping the success will open more opportunities for young Vietnamese artists.
Ha Minh Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts, said that the victory is reaffirms Vietnam’s cultural identity and position on the international music map.
The second place went to Nomad Trio from Kyrgyzstan with 373 points, while singer Dana Al Meer of Qatar finished third with 369 points.
Intervision 2025, relaunched by Russia after more than 40 years of hiatus, gathered 23 participants from countries including China, India, Cuba, Venezuela, Egypt, South Africa, and host nation Russia.
The original Intervision Song Contest was a Soviet-era event held in the 1960s through the 1980s, serving as a cultural front for the socialist bloc and a socialist alternative to Eurovision.
The event has attracted 4.3 billion viewers worldwide via television and online platforms.
