Ambassador Giang made the statement at a meeting of the UN Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee in New York on Tuesday, where delegates highlighted the importance of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 1993 Vienna Declaration and Program of Action, and the principles of universal value, interconnectedness, interdependence, and inseparability of human rights.

Ambassador Giang emphasized that politicizing human rights and meddling in internal affairs do not yield effective solutions. He emphasized prioritizing the rights to peace, development, education, health, employment, non-discrimination, and social justice.

He highlighted Vietnam's 30-year track record of promoting and protecting human rights with a people-centered approach during the renewal period.

As a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term, Vietnam has taken specific initiatives and chaired resolutions promoting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, effective climate change response, and human rights.
