UN General Assembly elects 15 members to Human Rights Council

(VOVWORLD) - The UN General Assembly on Tuesday elected 15 members to the Human Rights Council for the 2024-2026 term, the United Nations body responsible for promoting and protecting all human rights around the globe.

By secret ballot, the Assembly elected Albania, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burundi, China, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Dominican Republic, France, Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Malawi and the Netherlands. All 15 members will serve three-year terms beginning on January 1, 2024.

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, sent a congratulatory message to the new members and expressed his wish that, together with Vietnam, a member of the Human Rights Council, they will promote cooperation in protecting and promoting human rights.
