Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN Minister Counsellor Le Thi Minh Thoa told the 62nd meeting of the UN Commission for Social Development (CSocD) which is taking place at its headquarters in New York from February 5-14 with the theme “Fostering social development and social justice through social policies to accelerate progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to achieve the overarching goal of poverty eradication.”

Ms. Thoa said that Vietnam í committed not to trade the environment for economic growth and perseveres with the goal of net zero emissions by 2050, illustrated by its participation and implementation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

She added that the implementation of social development and justice still faces many challenges due to limited resources which requires improved international cooperation in capacity building and technical assistance for developing countries like Vietnam to promote the shared goals of development and social justice.
