Vietnam calls for stronger international cooperation in ensuring gender equality

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has called for stronger international cooperation to help countries fulfill their commitments to ensuring the full, equal, and meaningful participation of women and girls in all areas of social life, and prevent violence and discrimination.

During a meeting of the UN Committee on Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues of the 78th-tenure UN General Assembly on Tuesday, Minister Counsellor Le Thi Minh Thoa, Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, said it is crucial to enhance the digital skills of female workers and empower women in developing the digital economy, as well as creating favorable conditions for women and girls to pursue careers in science and technology while safeguarding their rights in the digital environment.

Thoa highlighted Vietnam’s achievements in ensuring women’s rights and promoting gender equality in policy making, law building, and development strategies.
