(VOVworld) - Young volunteer doctors will be dispatched to 62 poorest districts in mountainous, remote, border and island regions under a project launched by the Health Ministry in Hanoi on Wednesday. The project aims to improve the quality of healthcare services in disadvantaged localities to help erase outdated practices.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Politburo member To Huy Rua, who is also Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Organization, suggested the Health Ministry work closely with local party committees in selecting locations and allocating doctors. “Voluntary doctors should prepare necessary skills to adapt to the real working conditions of communal clinics and district hospitals. They should be acquainted with the local language, customs and lifestyles so that they can easily integrate into the local life. It’s also important to prepare necessary health facility, train local doctors and health workers to improve the quality of health care services”, said Mr. Rua.

Under the project, young doctors will be sent to remote areas this June. The Ministry of Health is implementing projects to reduce overloading at hospital and family doctors.
