Featured on the list was Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery in Sa Pa in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.

The hotel has won awards in several categories, such as “Vietnam's Leading Luxury Hotel”, “Asia's Leading Design Hotel”, and “The iconic hotel of the world 2019”.

The hotel boasts thousands of paintings, antique chests, fur coats, and necklaces with patterns of Northwest ethnic groups which honour the cultural values of ethnic minorities in Vietnam. Its furniture is either antique or designed by skilled interior designers Aood & Ord, and crafted by Vietnamese artisans, creating a cultural interaction between France and the highland culture of ethnic minorities such as the H’Mong, Dao, Xa Pho, Tay, Giay, and so on. Rooms cost from VND2.9 million (121 USD) a night.

Elsewhere, InterContinental Hanoi Landmark 72, the tallest luxury five-star hotel in Hanoi, won the Vietnam’s Leading Business Hotel category at WTA 2023. This is the third time that it has been honoured with the prestigious prize.

The hotel first opened in 2017 in Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower in Cau Giay district with 359 luxury rooms and 34 suites. Rooms cost from 6.6 million VND, (275 USD) a night.

Azerai La Residence in Imperial Citadel Hue won the title of “Vietnam’s leading boutique hotel” for two consecutive years.

The hotel was built on an area of two-and-a-half-hectare and features a 200 meter frontage facing the Huong (Perfume) River and 122 French-colonial style rooms.

The mansion at the heart of Azerai La Residence was built during the 1930s for the French Resident Superieure. It is notable for its distinctive facade, long horizontal lines, and nautical flourishes which represent hallmarks of art deco.

The mansion is not far from the Imperial Citadel, An Dinh Palace, and Dong Ba Market. Rooms cost from 4.1 million VND (171 USD) a night.

Rounding off the list is the Imperial Hotel in the southern city of Vung Tau, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Park Hyatt Saigon in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, the InterContinental Residences Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Melia Vinpearl Hue in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, SOJO Hotel Ga Hanoi in Hoan Kiem district of the capital, and Novotel Danang Premier Han River in the central city of Da Nang.

The WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries.

The award has been dubbed "the Oscar of the travel industry" by the Wall Street Journal.
