Macron was re-elected with a preliminary rate of 58%.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, and many other European leaders were quick to congratulate Macron after the results of the vote were revealed.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted that France is one of the UK’s closest and most important allies and he looks forward to continuing to work together on the issues which matter most to the two countries and to the world.
Macron is the first French president to be re-elected for a second mandate since 2002.
