(VOVworld) – A workshop on socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta’s key economic areas from 2016 to 2020 with a vision towards 2030 was held on Friday in Can Tho city.

The event was organized by the Southwestern Steering Committee, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said the region should focus on economic restructuring, shifting from agricultural production to services and processing industries to meet the demands of agricultural production. It is essential to produce high-quality agricultural products in large scale. Mr. Ninh asked the localities to duplicate new models of agricultural cooperatives and diversify investment resources from individuals and society.
