The 98-kilometer road, which connects the central provinces of Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue, is expected to open to traffic by 2021, allowing speed of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested relevant agencies and contractors to stick to schedule, ensure work quality, and combat corruption in capital construction investment.

The section is one of the 11 components of the more than 2,100km North-South Expressway which is scheduled to be completed by 2025 with total investment of more than 5 billion USD.
