WHO says COVID-19 most likely originated from an animal, not a lab

(VOVWORLD) - Evidence suggests that the SARS-CoV-2 virus originated in animals in China late last year and was not produced in a laboratory, WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib told reporters Tuesday.

Chaib said it is not clear how the virus jumped the species barrier to humans but there was “certainly” an animal host. “It most likely has its ecological reservoir in bats, but just how the virus was transmitted from bats to humans is still to be discovered,” she said.
