(VOVWORLD) - The White House said on Monday it fully expects a meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to go ahead as planned, even though Pyongyang has yet to comment publicly on the possibility of a summit.

A South Korean delegation that visited the North last week said North Korean leader Kim Jong Un expressed a wish to meet the American and South Korean presidents to discuss denuclearization. President Trump has agreed to hold direct talks with Kim this May. North Korean media reported the South Korean visit, but added no details of the talks.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said the US hoped North Korea would stick to their promises and if so the meeting will go on as planned.
