(VOVworld) – The P5+1 group (including 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) will consider limited pullback of sanctions on Iran in exchange for clear evidence that Tehran is taking steps to end its nuclear program.

The announcement came on Thursday from the White House as negotiations continued between the group and Iran in Geneva, Switzerland.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters that the main sanctions against Iran would remain until both sides had reached a final comprehensive deal which would relieve the world’s concern over Iran’s nuclear activities. Carney added that the White House has urged the US Congress to take loosened sanctions into consideration to open doors to reach a consensus.
