On Friday the South African National Assembly announced that it had elected Cyril Ramaphosa of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party as the President of South Africa with 283 votes in favor out of a total of 339 votes.
Mr. Ramaphosa will be sworn in next week in the capital Pretoria and will then announce a new cabinet.
