WEF ASEAN 2018 helps raise Vietnam's global profile

(VOVWORLD) - The World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2018 held in Hanoi last month has raised Vietnam’s prestige and role in the region and the world, Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son told a conference to review the meeting on Sunday.

“It was the largest regional WEF conference ever with more than 1,000 delegates including many state leaders of ASEAN countries. It featured the largest number of sessions, 60, which covered political, economic, social, cultural and environmental issues concerning both ASEAN and the region,” Mr. Son said.

Addressing at the review conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the WEF ASEAN conference was successful in terms of topics, discussion, communications, reception, logistics, security, and health care.

“The event realized Party guideline on improving Vietnam’s international integration and multilateral diplomacy, mobilizing contributions from sectors, localities, the public, and enterprises to create a unified strength. It’s important to closely follow global development trends to harmonize those trends with national interests,” PM Phuc noted. 

The World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN) 2018 themed: “ASEAN 4.0: Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industrial Revolution” took place in Hanoi on September 11-13.
