(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was discussed at a webinar called “India at 75”, hosted online by the Indian Embassy in Hanoi on Thursday. Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma said, “These 50 years, and even longer than that, has been a remarkable journey of togetherness for India and Vietnam. The two countries not only overcame adversities but also supported and inspired each other. So this is an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to take our special relationship and comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.”

The webinar brought together representatives of the Government of Vietnam, members of think tanks, and organizations, who shared their thoughts on India’s journey, the role of public diplomacy, and their shared Buddhist heritage.

Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung said, “I would like to mention the historical and cultural links between our two nations that date back more than 2,000 years. During the 20th century, generations of our leaders and people worked tirelessly together to lay the foundation for our friendship, which was upgraded to a comprehensive economic partnership in 1992.”

Vietnam and India elevated their ties to a strategic partnership in 2007 and a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016.
