Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his entourage arrived in Paris on Thursday for the 19th Francophonie Summit and an official visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The first visit by a Vietnamese President to France in the past 22 years is expected to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Mr. Lam will attend the opening session of the 19th Francophonie Summit and deliver a speech in a session on the challenges facing Francophone citizens in the digital age.

The Vietnamese top leader’s participation will contribute to multilateralism and affirm Vietnam’s role in the Asia-Pacific Francophonie community and its socio-economic and cultural achievements.
