(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s textiles and garments sector has earned up to 27.5 billion USD from exports over the past 6 months, up 10% from the same period last year. The US continues to be Vietnam’s largest export market, accounting for 42% of Vietnam’s total textile and garment export turnover. The sector earned 1.3 billion and 948 million USD from exports to Japan and the Republic of Korea. Le Tien Truong, general director of Viet Nam National Textiles and Garments Group, said the free trade agreement signed in May between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union has created important opportunities for exports of Vietnam’s garment and textile products. Vietnam can earn up to 1 billion USD from exports to this potential market once it makes full use of the free trade agreements’ benefits regarding the tariff barriers and simplified customs procedures.
