(VOVworld) – On Wednesday, the National Assembly Committee for External Affairs held a workshop on developing the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community and Vietnam’s participation in the process.

The event was in preparation for a presentation session on the ASEAN Community, scheduled to be held in mid August. The participants said that the ASEAN Community played an integral part in assuring peace and stability in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. Regarding the Socio-Cultural pillar, one of ASEAN’s 3 major pillars, the ASEAN bloc will continue to consider the role of member countries’ identities in the principle of unity in diversity and not intervening in the internal affairs of others. The workshop also discussed prospects and challenges to the ASEAN after the ASEAN Community is established. Legal documents and policies to boost Vietnam’s further integration into ASEAN were also discussed.
