Vietnam's National Day celebrated in Sydney

(VOVWORLD) - The Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney, Australia, held a ceremony on Monday to mark Vietnam's 79th National Day. The celebration was attended by 500 guests, including Sydney and New South Wales officials, and representatives of the Vietnam Embassy and community in Australia.

In his remarks, Consul General Nguyen Dang Thang said that, after nearly 8 decades of development, Vietnam has become one of the 40 largest economies in the world.

It has established diplomatic relations with 193 countries and formed strategic partnerships and comprehensive strategic partnerships with 30 countries, including all permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Vietnam and Australia have just upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Mr. Thang said. He thanked Australia for its prompt support for Vietnam in addressing the aftermath of typhoon Yagi.
