(VOVworld)- Vietnamese students attending the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad in Colombia returned to Hanoi on Wednesday. This year, all six Vietnamese students won three gold and three silver medals, ranking 7th among 97 participating countries, up 2 levels against last year.

At the welcoming ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia praised the Vietnamese medalists and expressed her hope that they will further their academic achievements in the future: “I’m very proud of our students and their achievements. This shows young Vietnamese people’s wisdom and the development of mathematics in Vietnam. This achievement was attributed to the students’ tireless efforts and teachers’ high sense of responsibilities. The teachers have kindled the students’ passion for mathematics and desire to conquer the mount of knowledge”.

The Ministry of Education and Training presented certificates of merits to the six students and 15 million dong each for gold medalists and 10 million dong each for silver medalists.
