Mr. Chinh said the macro-economy is stable and inflation is under control despite rising gasoline prices. Industry is flourishing, services are restored, and agriculture is developing stably. Economic growth is strong with GDP increasing 7.72% in the 2nd quarter, the fastest growth in the past 11 years.

Cultural and social activities and services have rebounded since Vietnam reopened to international tourism on March 15 while foreign affairs are comprehensive and balanced, and national defense and security are strong. PM Chinh requested greater efforts to meet the targets set for this year and the 2021-2025 period.

"The discussion should be frank and point out what has been done and what has not been done in the first half of the year, as well as lessons learned and continuing challenges. I look forward to hearing more solutions for overcoming obstacles in the coming weeks," he said.
