Chairman Hue informed about the current situation in Vietnam. He said that given the pandemic under control, Vietnam will soon reopen, recover and develop with a positive growth momentum even during the COVID-19 pandemic, striving to reach more than 7% of GDP this year, maintaining inflation at a low level, and stabilizing the macro-economy.

He emphasized that Britain is a global development power which has an important position in Vietnam's foreign policy. He reiterated Vietnam’s supports for UK in promoting cooperation with ASEAN and said Vietnam is ready to be a bridge for the UK to expand cooperation with ASEAN countries. He asked the UK to support ASEAN’s centrality.

House of Commons Speaker Hoyle said he hopes that Vietnam will promote its important role and voice at multilateral forums and in issues of global significance, including traditional and non-traditional security. He expressed his admiration for Vietnam's impressive development achievements and praised Vietnam's success in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic and its efforts in socio-economic recovery and development.

The two sides discussed cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the British House of Commons, bilateral relations as well as cooperation on multilateral forums, on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Towards the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties next year, the two sides agreed to organize many diverse and meaningful activities on trade, investment and cultural cooperation, especially the exchange of high-level delegations.

They agreed to strengthen cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crimes, human trafficking, anti-money laundering, cyber security, and especially in climate change. They praised the two countries' cooperation at multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and the ASEAN-UK cooperation framework.
