The Ministry of Health is working on a draft of the Population Law and the national target program on public healthcare, population, and development for the 2026-2035 period, the minister added. She underlined the principle of placing people at the center and considering them the goal of national sustainable development.

"The National Assembly Standing Committee has approved amendments to Article 10 of the Population Ordinance, which has been effective since June 3. The revisions emphasize the right of individuals to make autonomous and voluntary decisions about their reproductive health that align with their health and economic circumstances. It’s is in line with the theme of this year’s World Population Day - “Reproductive autonomy in a changing world,” she said.

Health minister Lan called on the international community to support Vietnam’s efforts to address declining birth rates and rapid population aging, and work closely with Vietnam in finalizing its Population Law.

Also at the ceremony, a representative of the UNFPA gave a summary of the 2025 State of World Population report, which recognizes Vietnam’s efforts to ensure reproductive autonomy for all.
