Vietnam's direct investment abroad tops 22 billion USD

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam invested 421 million USD in overseas projects in 2023, 78% more than last year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Vietnam's direct investment capital abroad has so far topped 22 billion USD, with over 1,700 projects. Many have been profitable and have repatriated nearly 2 billion USD this year.

Although total capital decreased in 2023, the number of newly-invested projects increased to 124. Vietnamese businesses are currently invested in 79 countries and territories around the world, particularly in high-tech agriculture.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment said foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam totaled 37 billion USD this year, with disbursed capital estimated to exceed 23 billion USD, a new record.
