Vietnam’s contributions to UNESCO are acknowledged internationally

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam will continue to make active, responsible contributions and realize its international commitments to UNESCO’s activities, said Assistant to Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu.

Speaking at the plenary session of the 217th session of the UNESCO Executive Council which concluded in Paris on Tuesday, Mr. Vu said Vietnam will strengthen coordination to successfully implement the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vietnam and UNESCO in the 2021‑2025 period.

On this occasion, Mr. Vu met with UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Deputy Director General Xing Qu, and other leaders of UNESCO and representatives of foreign delegations participating at the meeting.

During the meetings, the foreign leaders praised the effective cooperation between Vietnam and UNESCO and other UNESCO members and acknowledged Vietnam’s practical and effective contribution to UNESCO.

The UNESCO leadership and secretariat promised to continue to help Vietnam preserve and promote UNESCO recognized world heritage sites and hoped Vietnam will become a member of the World Heritage Committee in the 2023‑2027 period.
