At the meeting, the two Prime Ministers expressed their pleasure over the two countries’ fruitful cooperation in 2024. Vietnamese enterprises have to date registered 5.7 billion USD investment in 267 projects in Laos with implemented capital reaching 2.8 billion USD. Amid global and regional economic difficulties and declining consumer demand, trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos in 2024 exceeded 2.2 billion USD, an increase of 34% compared to 2023. Laos had a 730 million USD trade surplus with Vietnam.
Discussing cooperation in 2025, the two sides agreed to continue to deepen political and diplomatic relations; strengthen the pillar of defense-security cooperation; give special priority to education-training and economy. They pledged to increase trade turnover between the two countries in 2025 by 10-15% compared to 2024.

Concluding the meeting, the two Prime Ministers emphasized that they will resolutely focus on directing relevant ministries, sectors, localities, and enterprises to closely coordinate and effectively deliver on the commitments and create maximum convenience for enterprises of the two countries to cooperate in investment, production and business. The two sides said they believe that the success of the meeting will create new momentum for the cooperative ties between the two countries to thrive.
