Vietnamese-born professor Nguyen Thuc Quyen elected to US National Academy of Engineering

(VOVWORLD) -Professor Nguyen Thuc Quyen has been admitted to US National Academy of Engineering for her leadership in education and diversity, as well as research in organic photovoltaics for energy-efficient buildings and greenhouses.

The Academy has just announced the admission of 124 more members (including 106 American and 18 international scientists), bringing the total memberships to 2,420 Americans and 319 foreigners.  

Quyen is teaching at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is also the co-chair of the VinFuture Prize Preliminary Committee of Vin Group.

Born in 1970 in Buon Me Thuot, Nguyen Thuc Quyen moved to the US to settle down with her family in 1991.

She then became one of four Vietnamese-born scientists named among the most influential minds in the world by Thomson Reuters in 2015 and was on this list four times in a row.

She was also named among the Top 1% Highly Cited Researchers in Materials Science by Clarivate Analytics in 2017 and 2018.
