Cong secured his best score on the fourth lift with 183.5kg, surpassing all rivals and breaking the world record as well as his own, 183kg, set last year. The gold medal helped Vietnam climb up to 5th place in the rankings, led by China, Mexico, Egypt, and Nigeria.
In the men’s 50m backstroke S5, swimmer Vo Thanh Tung won a silver medal.
