(VOVworld) - On August 19, 1948 Vietnamese volunteers departed from De An village, Hanh Phuoc commune, Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province to begin their international missions in southern Laos. It’s a historic milestone in the close alliance between Vietnam’s voluntary troops in southern central region, southern Laos, and northeastern Cambodia and the Vietnamese volunteers' participation in international missions.
At an international symposium on Vietnamese voluntary troops in Laos and Cambodia in Quang Ngai on Saturday, war veterans and historical witnesses discussed cooperative ties between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Le Quang Thich, Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee, said: “The symposium has highlighted the role of Vietnamese volunteers during their international missions in southern Laos and northeastern Cambodia and the historical significance of their missions. The symposium also praises friendship, mutual support, and cooperation between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in national struggles for independence in the past and national construction at present.”
