The 2022 QS Rankings by Subject cover 51 disciplines, in five broad subject areas -  Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Management.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi gained recognition in six subjects. It ranked in the group of 351 – 400 in Mathematics; 501 – 550 in Computer Science and Information Systems; and 451 – 500 in Engineering – Civil and Structural; Physics and Astronomy; Business and Management Studies; and Engineering – Electrical and Electronic.

Hanoi University and Science and Technology was ranked in five disciplines. It ranked in the group of 301 – 350 in Engineering – Electrical and Electronic, Engineering – Mechanical - Engineering – Civil and Structural, Computer Science and Information System, Math, and Material Science, up 100 spots from the previous ranking.

Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City was ranked in seven subjects - Modern Languages; Engineering – Electrical and Electronic; Engineering – Chemical; Computer Sciences and Information Systems; Mathematics; Chemistry; and Engineering – Petroleum.
