National Assembly Chairman Man highlighted the significant potential for parliamentary cooperation, expressing hope that parliamentary cooperation would become a key pillar of bilateral relations.
He proposed that the two Parliaments promote cooperation, exchanges, and experience-sharing between specialized Committees and National Assembly deputies, particularly in law-making and the domestication of international treaties and commitments, saying this would ensure effective implementation and the creation of a favorable legal corridor to enhance bilateral cooperation.
President José Ramos-Horta agreed with Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s proposals on parliamentary cooperation and expressed a desire to strengthen the partnership with Vietnam in agriculture. He proposed that Vietnam share its expertise to assist Timor-Leste in areas of its strength.
