Vietnamese scientist in Australia wins science-technology prize

(VOVWORLD) - Dr. Nguyen Trong Hieu, a senior lecturer on solar cells at Australia National University, has been honored with a science-technology prize in the field of new material technology by the Youth Union and the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology.

Hieu, born in 1988, is among 10 outstanding young talents of Vietnam receiving the award. Hieu said his team is developing more advanced measurement methods to help researchers measure photovoltaic properties of solar materials more accurately.

The team's measurement methods are currently used by many universities and research institutes around the world, including the University of New South Wales, the University of Sydney, the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and a number of research institutes in Europe.

Since 2014, Dr. Hieu has published 72 papers in international journals. He has founded and managed two optical laboratories at Australia National University.
