Vietnamese citizens to be protected in Korea

The representative met with their Korean counterparts in Hanoi where they voiced deep concern at the current tension on the Korean peninsula and expressed hope that all parties will restrain themselves and make efforts to ease the tension and maintain peace and stability in the region. The representative asked Seoul and Pyongyang to take necessary steps to ensure the security of the lives and assets of Vietnamese citizens in the two countries. A representative of North Korea said Pyongyang takes responsibility for protecting the lives and property of diplomatic agencies and international organizations in North Korea, including the Vietnamese embassy. Meanwhile, a representative of the South Korean embassy said Seoul will work closely with diplomatic agencies in South Korea and take necessary measures to protect foreign citizens there.
