During his meeting with the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Monday in Cairo, Egypt, President Cuong suggested that Vietnam and the Arab League member countries actively implement the signed cooperation programs, especially the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Arab League Secretariat.

He urged for strengthened consultation, close coordination and mutual support at multilateral mechanisms, particularly the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement. Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge connecting the Arab League with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), said President Cuong.

The Secretary General said that the Arab League and its member countries attach importance to comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam. He thanked Vietnam for its balanced viewpoint, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter on international issues, including support for the just cause of the Palestinian people.
