Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to UNESCO, had a working session with Lidia Arthur Brito, Assistant Director General of UNESCO for Natural Sciences in Paris.
The Ambassador called on UNESCO to continue support and advise relevant Vietnamese agencies to develop new dossiers to register as UNESCO Global Geoparks and World Biosphere Reserves. Vietnam has completed the dossier to submit to UNESCO to recognize Lang Son Geopark as a Global Geopark.
Ambassador Van Anh announced that Cao Bang province is urgently and actively coordinating with the Vietnam National Committee for UNESCO to carry out the preparation for hosting the 8th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network in the Asia-Pacific region in September this year.
The Assistant Director General affirmed her readiness to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in open science, oceanography, water resources management, and application of artificial intelligence (AI) in science, AI ethics, preserving world biosphere reserves and global geoparks towards sustainable development.
