The spokesperson told a regular press conference in Hanoi on Thursday, “Vietnam respects the American people’s decision and can affirm that regardless of who wins the election, the US remains one of Vietnam’s most important partners and has good relations with Vietnam in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect.”

The spokesperson confirmed that Mr. Robert O'Brien, National Security Advisor and special envoy of the US President, will visit Vietnam in the coming days and will meet with leaders and representatives of the ministries of Vietnam. The purpose of the visit is to promote Vietnam-US relations as the two countries are celebrating 25 years of their diplomatic ties.
