Vietnam values friendly cooperation with Ivory Coast: PM

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam attaches importance to promoting friendly cooperation with Ivory Coast and considers Ivory Coast one of Vietnam's important partners in Africa, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Prime Minister Chinh on Wednesday received Ivory Coast’s National Assembly President Adama Bictogo, who is on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Adama Bictogo said Ivory Coast considers Vietnam one of its important partners in Southeast Asia and wishes to strengthen multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam to maximize the great potential of the two countries.

The two leaders agreed on measures to deepen bilateral ties, emphasizing the importance of increasing contact and delegation exchanges, especially at high-level, in order to enhance political trust and create a solid foundation for further cooperation in all fields, especially the economy.

They voiced determination to further bilateral trade turnover while creating favorable conditions for market expansion in each country as well as in Africa and Asia.

Prime Minister Chinh suggested that the two sides ensure a balance of trade, diversify exchanged goods, increase exports of Vietnam's strong commodities, and expand cooperation in potential fields.

He called for studying the model of tripartite agriculture cooperation between the two countries and an international organization and asked Ivory Coast to continue to facilitate the Vietnamese community to stabilize their lives in Ivory Coast, contributing to the friendship between the two countries.

Adama Bictogo committed to promoting the role of the legislative body in supporting and facilitating cooperation between the two Governments. He expected Vietnam to share development experience and strengthen agricultural cooperation to contribute to ensuring sustainable food security for Ivory Coast.

The top legislator suggested that Vietnamese enterprises increase investment and production in Ivory Coast. He expressed willingness to boost cooperation in education-training, healthcare, and people-to-people exchanges.
