At a Wednesday gathering to mark the 247th anniversary of the US Independence Day (July 4), Phuong said that since the normalization of their relations, Vietnam and the US have together achieved significant accomplishments.
Vietnam is currently one of the US’s leading trade partners in the region, while the US has invested billions of dollars in addressing the Agent Orange contamination and other remaining war legacy issues in Vietnam, she added.
“Once the construction of the US Embassy in Hanoi is completed, it will be one of the largest embassies in Southeast Asia. Recently, two young Vietnamese-Americans who are naval soldiers on the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan visiting Da Nang said that they have not forgotten their Vietnamese roots. For us, it's memorable. The relationship between human and human, people and people is always the most prevalent and sustainable,” according to Phuong.
Natella Svistunova, Cultural Attaché at the US Consulate General in HCM City, said this year marks the 10th anniversary of US-Vietnam comprehensive partnership, adding the development of bilateral relations is the foundation for the two countries to step up cooperation and jointly address global issues for the future development.
