(VOVworld) – Vietnam - US cooperation has progressed in various fields, including human rights dialogue, featured in their 2013 joint statement.

At the 19th session of the Vietnam-US Human Rights Dialogue in Hanoi on Thursday, the two sides briefed each other on their achievements and challenges in promoting human rights.

Also on the agenda were building a State governed by law, judicial reform, freedom of expression, freedom of speech and religion, labor rights, and the rights of disabled people.

Vietnam and the US agreed to cooperate in supporting human rights at multilateral forums like the UN Human Rights Council.

The US delegation was headed by Tom Malinowski, Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor while Vu Anh Quang, Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the Vietnamese delegation.
