Vietnam, US expand marine security cooperation

(VOVworld) – On Monday, the Deputy Defence Minister, Senior Lieutenant- General Nguyen Chi Vinh, met with the US ambassador to Vietnam, Ted Osius, to discuss measures to promote defense cooperation, especially in searching for the remains of US soldiers who went missing in action in the war, clearing Agent Orange/ dioxin affected sites, bomb and landmine clearance and UN peace keeping activities.

The two sides agreed to expand marine security cooperation while respecting international law, contributing to regional peace, security and development. Mr. Nguyen Chi Vinh and Mr. Ted Osius also discussed preparations for the upcoming visit to Vietnam by US President Barack Obama.
