Vietnam, US boost trade and investment

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam always treasures the comprehensive partnership with the US and hopes to lift bilateral relations to a new level, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said at a reception for US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and a US business delegation in Hanoi on Friday.

Mr. Phuc hailed the efforts made by the US Secretary of Commerce to promoting Vietnam-US trade and investment ties. Secretary Ross said the US business delegation accompanying him during this trip include representatives from many big corporations, who are interested in the Vietnamese market.

He said the US Department of Commerce plans to arrange for a business delegation to visit Vietnam in March next year to seek opportunities in cooperation on energy. Representatives from some US groups expressed their wish to invest more in Vietnam, hailing the country’s support and cooperation in the past time.

At a ceremony to mark 25 years of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hanoi and the normalization of Vietnam-US relations the same day, Secretary Ross said boosting trade with Vietnam will benefit US enterprises. US ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink said two-way trade has exceeded 60 billion USD and will continue to grow strongly.
