Attending a plenary session on Thursday morning on Vietnam’s sustainable tourism development with a vision toward 2030, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the government always encourages creative start-ups to get involved in tourism development. He underlined that tourism restructuring and strong commitments of businesses are key factors to boost Vietnam’s tourism development. He said delegates’ proposals to raise foreign arrivals and improve e-visa services will be taken into consideration.

Last year, tourism contributed 7.9 percent to gross domestic product and the figure is expected to rise to more than 10% by 2020. Vietnam ranks 6 out of 10 countries worldwide with highest growth in number of tourists in 2017. In September, Vietnam won the award “Asia's Leading Destination” at the 2018 World Travel Awards in Hong Kong.
