ASEAN’s priorities include fostering dialogue, military-defense cooperation within ASEAN and with its partners, developing initiatives to improve institutions and coordinate competence, resolving traditional and nontraditional security issues, and fighting trans-national crime.

Vietnam’s Defense Ministry will host a series of ASEAN military and defense conferences and activities such as the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM), the ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces Meeting (ACDFM), the second ASEAN multilateral navy exercise, and the ASEAN Defense Senior Officials' Meeting (ADSOM).
