(VOVWORLD) - With the approaching summer holidays and potential easing of visa restrictions, which are now under consideration by the National Assembly, Vietnam will likely see a healthy boost from international tourism, banking and financial service HSBC Vietnam reported.

The proposal to the NA includes extensions of e-visa to 90 days (from 30 days) and visa-free stays to 45 days (from 15 days), as well as expanding the list of countries eligible for e-visas, which aims to help Vietnam catch up with regional peers.

In particular, the number of tourists from China recovered to 35% of 2019's level, and can potentially reach 65%.

The number of tourists to Vietnam will continue to increase in the latter half of 2023 if Vietnam continues to resume international flights, maintain its ticket price, expands the list of countries eligible for e-visas, and extends visa-free stays, said ASEAN economist at HSBC, Yun Liu.
