According to Ambassador Do Hung Viet, head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the President’s address will highlight the value of peace and the building of a sustainable future.

Mr. Viet said the working trip to the United States by the President and his spouse carries great significance, as UNGA80 coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

The trip reaffirms Vietnam’s strong commitment to multilateralism and to the core values of the United Nations and demonstrates Vietnam’s independent, self-reliant foreign policy, support for diversification, and proactive and comprehensive integration into the global community, the Ambassador noted.

He added that Vietnam’s sincere and powerful message to the General Assembly will reflect the perspective of a nation that has endured war, blockade, and embargo, and therefore deeply values peace and international cooperation.

Peace, Mr. Viet said, is the foundation of social progress and development, and a sustainable future for everyone.
